Takedown and Changes Policy

Authors who contribute to the American Prison Writing Archive (APWA) retain full and unconditional copyright to their work. As an author, you may request to have your work removed from this website at any time, for any reason.

To request removal, please contact the APWA at prisonwitness@jh.edu or at our mailing address, found below, with the following information:

  • Your name and contact information

  • Any details that identify the work to be removed, such as title or URL

When we receive a request, APWA staff will:

  • Promptly acknowledge the request

  • Review the request

  • Remove from the digital archive any requested writing that is owned by the requestor, and communicate when the removal is complete.

As an author, you may also request that we change or remove the name displayed with your work, or any other information about you that is displayed on this website.
