Levert III "Sekou" Brookshire Arizona Word Count: 297 Celldweller Journal: "Tools Helping Underground Society Inc - T.H.U.G.S Inc Movement Pt. IV" "Black August Essay's" (Entry Twenty One) Anyone 'alive' can see the phenomenon of 'street gangs', 'thugs', cropping up throughout the country, all-over, in practically every city, large and small. The role of these thugs and street gang's in our societys expanding poor communities, and broken-families is'nt explained and often poorly understood. The growing street gang, phenomenon the popularity of being a street 'thug' is, a clear sign that a youth-revolt is 'underway'. How else do we explain this growing youth rebellion, as we see it occurring in the United States? There are many theory's but no clear satisfactory answer's. The young people of today feel as if time is running-out. And they are living in an age of materialism, instant gratification, fame, and rapid 'technological' change, because of mass-media, and freedoms of society; the youth learn faster, and mature alot sooner. They become quickly aware and deeply resentful of all the hypocracy surrounding them. My own instincts told me, back in 2000. Very much of what younger people are feeling, doing and saying today, basically shows what me and my generation was doing and felt, during my youth. Which included doing everything to irritate and disturb the older generation. I found this, to be my inspiration when I launched T.H.U.G.S Inc. Most of society believes if we just cover our eyes, and plug our ears their youth noise and rebellious fever will go away. People who havent gone through this experience don't understand how really complex, everything really is? When this finally sank-in, I became moved to do something, because I realized that the greater tragedy will be to have, had the opportunity to make an impact and ignored it? A unique opportunity came before me to bring together our ages - young and old, and experience, organizational skills plus join together, our energies and idealism, with social-consciousness. The antidote to despair is to get involved, "if you're not part of the solution" "you're a part of the problem" Transcribed in 2016.
