Nosey people

10/22/2017 Nosey People I have been locked up since 2009 in the South Dakota State Penitentiary and at the Maximum Security Jameson Annex since 2013 and it surprises me just how nosey people are. This prison is boring and relatively safe compared to most other prisons. Both inmates and prisoners have nothing else to do then be nosey and gossip about nothing and everything. This prison doesn't allow us to seal our out-going mail so any prison staff can and do read our letters and gossip about it afterwards. I have heard correctional officers and inmates discuss the contents of my letters numerous times. Sometime as quick as putting a letter in out-going mailbox, of which floor officer has the keys and coming back from chow to hear inmates discussing it. It goes to show how nosey people are in prison. They really need to get a life of their own or get a hobby. Another example of how nosey people are is when I use the phone and see inmates standing by their cell doors listening to every word I say, then discussing it with other prisoners. People here love to tell stories, gossip, spread rumors, that seems to be their favorite pastime, prison staff included. Most prisoners here do not know how to do their own time. Always messing with others and worrying about mostly made up scenarios in their head. This prison recently got electronic tablets with texting allowed, monitored of course. This is another way to be nosey and start needless drama and rumors for the prison staff in inmates amusement. I have written a text to my family and literally, 10 minutes later people start to discuss the contents. Prison staff love to relay information to gossip about or be used to retaliate against me because of my civil rights lawsuits, grievances, prison activism, and a peaceful zen Buddhist. If you want to know more, feel free to set up texting with me by e-mailing to: support@connectnetwork.com or call: 1-877-650-4249 if you need set-up help. I will respond to your texts if you really want to know about this prison or me. The texts are only about 25 cents per text of up to 2000 letters. This texting is good because it allows more communication with the outside world and a little more transparency of the prison. If people did their own time and minded their own business instead of constantly worrying in their minds about what somebody could be doing, then doing time would be a lot less stressful and easier. I am having problems now because people take one or two things I have written or said and either twisted them completely around or take the contents the wrong way. People here always think up the worst things in their head, always negative then use those wrong thoughts to start rumors and drama here. Anything to start a fight to watch. I think everyone would be better off if they would just worry about themselves instead of the so called weird version of "keeping up with the Joneses next door." People always thinking of more, better rumors or drama then the day before. Needless drama. What do you think? Send me a text and we can have an interesting discussion. Sincerely, Shane Bell P.O. Always be mindful of the kindness and not the faults of others." -Buddha
