Social Chemistry 2/21/20 In a not too extended format I will lay out where the social arena from maybe the early 1900s until now in 2020 have gone and developed. What sets the stage is no doubt multiflavored coming from many cultures and a few countries. In the suburban and outter cities of Los Angeles I would see so many different sorts of people and styles it was mind boggling. Not much of a traveler myself I cant say what a community in the more dormant mid-states would look like. Social chemistry can be two or a group of people, even within the same town, who have very different beliefs and habits but connect on one issue that binds them for a length of time. A serious and randomly insane event can bring two complete strangers into the process of sharing thier daily routine together as buddies of some fantastic popular mutual day in thier life. 2 Instant gratification can come from someone who knows the right topic to discuss when your whole week has been misery and chaos. Off the top I wouldnt base the outcome of socializing on race & color. For those who stay up on T.V. and music we see more bi-racial relations and partnerships than, yes, in the late 1800's or early 1900's. Just dont put those dates into a conversation with some proffessor or scholar who is 50-80 years old. In our live we do put more attention into how we can build "social chemistry" with a man or women. Someone we want to legitimize as our marital partner. There are times when a man has properly courted a female and the relationship has been progressing for months in full color. But as the women begins to meet her lovers family, the lifestyle and culture of his siblings somehow repel the girlfriend away. The chemistry has been extinguished. 3 Socializing for some is a fun science equation. To study and pick apart how another operates daily and reacts to city life can 2/3 of the time give more & detailed knowledge of a individual. The mixture of culture or the manners from 1920s to 1990s leaves many at hostile differences that seem to create new fads and trends. Much of what we might not have understood from a outside point of view we later think to be signs of good faith, friendlyness, party time or serious victories. When social groups maintain thier standing long enough as one they sometimes make thier own insignias, mantras or terminology. Right? Alot of which does filter outside the group or outlasted the group gains false pretense and meaning. Prison since I was 23 in 2009 hasnt permitted the gamble of SnapChat, Twitter, Starbucks or "Love Connection" T.V. shows. Although I do have some good education the chemistry of my socializing hits a wall and snags on barbwire. 4 Can the social status of a person be medicated? We look to other more dormant areas like the U.S. mid-states or 2nd World countries and the idea of idolizing and envying our social status isnt welcomed in the picture. It might even seem to others just something that cant be had. How would I judge a cousin of mine or long term friend who suddenly takes off in success & recognition? How many different angles would I have to look at them to see if the change is negative or positive. Back in the 1800s a person's social status and belonging wasnt often questioned nor got much change. It stays where it is. Were times happier then I couldnt say but the chaotic confusion of the 20th Century has me looking for easy answers. A quick and polite request at a store or market now could have people thinking you are a sheep and dweeb. Too much of a curteous demeanor and people think you area terrorist. Proper mannerism now appears undervalued. 5 As with the chemical type of chemistry people look for particular traits to see if another's personality can mix with thiers. This forethought can be applied when a boss needs a new management team. It is used when bitter cheap parents want to interrogate who thier son or daughters new mate is. It is seen to be the downfall when someone puts together a charityball or music concert. Social chemistry can be the reason a community keeps its peace for many decades without many outsiders. I've seen unusual connections spark between two strange people in abnormal places and all I understand is they had chemistry. It happen to work. There have definitely been dozens of the rich & famous who fell and crumbled cause thier social status with the public was ruined. As we see (too often) with elections and political campaigning the status of a individual can be recaptured. Totally. But what it takes to turn these tides could be labeled mysterious, crooked or even paranormal. I write this essay cause much of the countries stability functions through Social Chemistry. 6 Sometimes I think putting too much effort into making connections opens a blindspot for another to take your place. Monitoring the social connections of large groups is much more difficult and time consuming. One must figure what topics brought them together? How long did it take for the group to grow to its size? Which of them as individuals puts effort into keeping companionship among the group? How one person affects the other without making him feel unwanted? The Law as it is written is also meant to enforce logical and moral conduct. Much of the Blacks in America today have no claim or any presence in the days of slavery yet demand reformation. I would deeply enjoy 30 days in Europe or South America to absorb what different culture is offered. Different conditions can likely help you experience new chemistry you at first thought not real or above your grade. Can we easily catch bigger fish just because its a bigger lake? 7 My social chemistry is a thing I pick at and observe often. Kinda like watching myself play out life. As the 33 year old male Hispanic I am now Im filled with underlying rage and hate how State Prisons can have a human so fouly exposed. I constantly work at my outter image and actions hoping my intentions filter through our neighborhoods and inspire the masses. I refuse to stare down every obstacle or let myself be overwhelmed and lose focus. My word is what I stand by and I will stand long as God permits me my health, mind and body. Respectfully, Anthony J. Saenz
