ALL ABOUT THE BENJAMINS!!! Take a look at the anemic response of the (D.O.C.) Pennsylvania during this covid pandemic, to commute sentences, illustrates how far away this state is from any meaningful prison reform. Year after year life without the possibility of parole – reform bill SB-135 are reintroduced by senator Street, only to sit on the table without any action1 No votes – No committee reviews NOTHING! Last December I wrote to the right to know office & I asked how much money does it take to incarcerate 1 prisoner in PA? Their answer; In fiscal year 2020, the cost for the D.O.C. was 51,675 per Inmate per year or $141.57¢ per day! Information responsive to fiscal year 2020-2021 from the county or federal government – your request is denied! There are five thousand four hundred and fifty one (5,451) prisoners serving defacto death penalty sentences in this department of corruption! I wonder what would transpire with the stalled legislation for the prison reform – If the lifer population ever decided not to share their concrete cage space! Would that extra fifty one thousand (51,000) dollars being denied to the D.O.C. change the laws to commutations and parole would be approved and passed through the house and senate! Prison’s are a big business – IT’S ALL ABOUT THE BENJAMINS!!! I am the originator of this article, James Brown.
