June 7th 2013 Inmate Journal
June 7th 2013: 7:25pm as we just returned from our evening rec. I played Ogre in Magic; he has a superior deck, but I like testing cards, decks and strategies. So now we're back in the dorm, as I listen to Lou Rawls doing "You'll Never Find" on Star 1330 AM, during Disco Saturday Night. Now they're playing a song "Relight My Fire" but I don't know who does it. Nice song. But I'm sitting on the TV area writing, because even though my cell is temporarily empty, it won't stay that way. Sooner or later somebody will invite themselves in. I told Lavont that Alex is a harbinger; whenever he comes over, someone else is coming. It's because when Oscar or Alex's new cellie see Alex in our room, they think they can come in too. Now who's this: "I Want Your Love" by Chic... isn't it? It's not Sister Sledge, is it? Anyway, today I finished 2 more Bible study courses (lessons). I still have about 5 more to do, and I sent off about a dozen this week. I think I'm making decent progress, but I can do more. But it's hard to do it when you can't get the privacy to do it. I want to do more, I want to write more, I want to read more, but how? Hmm..who's this: "Don't Rock The Boat"... I can't get the name but I remember this song. Everytime I hear it, I remember as a kid as me, my 2 brothers and a friend at Carrowinds, riding the flume, rocking the boat in the water ride. Anyway, I had thoughts about one of the Bible study lessons, where they talked about people that knew Jesus, but didn't change. Pilate and Judas were two examples (as I hear Regina Bell singing "Never Knew Love Like This Before"). The implication the Bible study gives is how cowardly they were... ok, I won't argue that, but they gave the implication that they should have done the right things.. but if they did, Jesus wouldn't have been sacrificed. If all the scribes, Pharisees, Saducees and chief priests did the right thing, then Jesus couldn't have been sacrificed. Wasn't that the plan... to be sacrificed? If so, then as strange as it sounds, Judas and Pilate were just as much a part of the plan as the disciples. So what if Pilate did "the right thing" and let Jesus go? There would then be no sacrifice, and our sins would still keep us from fellowship with God. I suppose it's a complicated debate. Right now, there's a Michael Jackson song on that I am not familiar with. It's clearly a disco song; was it off the "Off The Wall" album or before it? Oh well, I'll probably work on a Sudoku just to pass the time.. last song here is "You Should Be Dancing" by I'm sure the Bee Gees. Nice song 7:45pm
June 9th 2013 as I listen to the NBA Finals. Missed the 6:15pm move because I fell asleep. Oh well, I might as well make the most of it. This is Game 2, Miami is up 1 point in the 3rd quarter. Not sure the score since I'm not watching it; I'm listening to it on the radio. I've found a few drawbacks with the MP3 player. One, it does not have AM radio. Two, the MP3 player doesn't pick up (7:40 left in the 3rd) FM stations too well; the jazz station I listen to from lockdown to 11:30pm doesn't pickup up on the MP3 player. Third, finding the silent TV stations is harder on the MP3, even though I can preset 40 stations. So, until I get about 40 or so songs on my MP3 player, I still need a radio. We had beef stroganoff for dinner, and I've got about 5 soups left, but I'll certainly need money to mail off the Bible study lessons, 2 of which I just finished. I think I have on the "stack" about 4 Bible study lessons left to work on, and I may try one before the yard recall. In fact, why not? Gives me something to do-
It's about 8:45pm as I'm in the laundry room. I did a 3-star Suduko from the Dallas Morning News, and started at 7:24 and I finished at 7:37. Not bad to finish a 3-star in 13 minutes. I then tried my hand at a 4-star. I started at 7:40 and finished at 8:25. That's a 4-star in 45 minutes; not too bad. That's about 12 minutes per star... speaking of star, I'm listening to Star 1330 AM, with "Turn The Beat Around" by Gloria Estaffon... is that how you spell her last name? So with another hour before lockdown, I'll have to find out what to do to play off some time. I dare not go back to the room, as soon as I go, the harbinger will come, then all the others. Maybe I need to call Alex the "Elvish Piper", from the Magic; The Gathering game. The Elvish Piper... no, is this "Mad About You" by Belinda Carlile? Oh well. Anyway, in the game, the Elvish Piper, for the cost of one mana, can bring in any creature into the game. Alex seems to "pipe" in people whenever he comes... Saiz just walks in, even if we're sleep, which isn't cool. Yet he gets upset at Oscar for reasons not really justified. Oh well, the day is almost over, I'll have a soup later-
Hope this gives you some idea of what I write about. I can write on many other subjects if people need to know more.
