" Just a Thought " By Alan Sorensen In what world would you charge, arrest and take to trial an individual for murder, with no body, no empirical evidence like DNA, no verifiable facts of any kind, only that of public opinion. In what world would you charge, arrest and take to trial an individual for rape even after all physical evidence, that such as a gynecology exam proved that the alleged victim still had a normal hynen that was completely intact. In what world would you charge, arrest and take to trial an individual for robbery even when there is no factual evidence that property or money was taken. As is well known and believed by many judges and prosecutors such ' hearsay ' witnesses, members of organized crime, drug dealers, career criminals, terrorists or potential informers who take the stand always tell the truth! What does it say about us as a people of what was once a great country when we are so eager to throw away so many people's lives on words that have no evidence to back them up. I would say be very careful that someday something is said of you and you lose your life and freedom. Here is a real truth, witnesses lie for many reasons, some to protect themselves or someone else, some out of anger, some because law enforcement has coached, coerced or promised them a reward. Some witnesses lie out of plain malice. Here is another truth, lying under oath is ' Perjury ' which is a state and federal crime, though it is the least prosecuted of them all. Just try to get evidence in that impeaches the witness, never going to happen, more so if you are poor.
