Just fill out a Reversal... By: Erin Kuhn-Brown The NDoC at fmwcc in Las Vegas, NV provides health care for inmates in their care with a co-pay of $8 for each visit. It has become a standard occurance at this facility to be charged for visits that never happened, or the doctor cancelled, and the inmates are charged for the visit anyway. Its become a necessity unfortunately, to keep a log book for any movement or kite... anything done with medical. A couple weeks ago, as I was checking my monthly statement on the kiosk, I discovered that I was charged $25.00 for a "man down"... which technically means that medical personnel brought you on a gurney to medical... It never happened. The comment that proceeds after that by NDoC staff, is Just fill out a medical reversal and you will get your money back. -one- That is not true. Let me say it again... It is not true! I have filled out many reversal forms, sent it to medical, and the Director of Nursing signs off on it, and then sends it on to some place to have the money put on your account. I believe the place is called Inmate Banking... I rather would like to believe that its called NDoC Employee Credit Union. At this point I have yet to speak with another inmate still incarcerated that has ever received any money back. Its one thing, to receive treatment & be charged for services and completely another to have charges show deducted from your account, which you had not planned on because no services were rendered. Now the Brass Slips, which are like checks begin to bounce! And it would appear that you are not a wise money manager, either. Thats just not true. After much inquiry no one will identify who is responsible for making deductions to this account. The medical dept are quick to defend themselves and state that the charges are made off site. At this point I am not sure if I am a part of a GoFundme account for NDoC or DoC. I guess I'll never know. -Two-
