NDoc Employee.Com By: Erin Kuhn-Brown I am sure that everyone has heard the phrase, "It's 10 PM, do you know what your kids are doing?" Being incarcerated in the only womens prison in Las Vegas, NV, I believe the question should be..., "Do you know what your employee's are doing on the clock?" I have been incarcerated for almost 20 years. Technology was very primative when I was arrested. I have had the opportunity to see what Face Book is all about while locked in my cell, that faces the unit bubble. It seems that one way that NDoc employees pass thier time on their 8 hour shift is to "surf the web." What drew my attention to the computer screen in the Bubble, from my cell, was seeing different photo images pop up, like someone in a wedding dress and other images of random girls popping up as well. What was really interesting to me was when -one- anyone coming to the Bubble door, Staff/Inmate alike, the glass in the Bubble would suddenly click off one image, back to a regular NDoc screen. After dealing with whoever came to the Bubble door, staff would again click onto a screen that had a blue border, with a white background, and little images pop up within the blue border. Recently, NDoc had cameras donated to the prison, and they have been installed throughout, even in the unit pods, as well as in Culinary. I've witnessed first hand how officers like to wear dark shades at work, and kick back, putting their boots up on the counter, and taking, what looks like a much needed nap. I believe they have no worries about being able to report what has gone on during their shift, because the cameras that were installed are so high tech that you can zoom in and see any possible images that you may have missed during your nap. I can see all of this from my cell that faces the Bubble. -two-
