NOTE FROM EDITOR: BEHIND THE WALL MENTORS MAGAZINE
Salutations Young Kings & Young Queens,
I’m Shawn Gardner founder of Behind The Wall Mentors. Our goal is by any means necessary to encourage, teach and inspire our youth. We created this magazine as an another option to reach young men or young women who may have been traveling down the same road we have.
As for me, I have been in your shoes before, not listening to my mother thinking I had it all figured out. The crazy part is she was just telling me everything she witnessed. Me thinking she was green and didn’t know what she was talking about got me a shiny pair of handcuffs. I was first detained as a juvenile at the age of 15. I was released after 30 days and I was right back to a life of crime. I was thinking the same way you’re thinking now, this isn't about nothing I can do this. That is what I want you to wake up about.
I want you to see the set backs in your life as a lesson and a blessing. It’s a lesson because you should in no way shape or form want to be locked-up and away from your family and friends. The bad part you now have someone telling you when you can eat and sleep. I say it’s a blessing because you can change your life now before you turn 18 or get waived up to an adult. Not having a felony on your record means you can go on and become anything in the world you chose to be I’m talking as high as the President of the United States, that’s just an example. (read about Nelson Mandela) Don’t let your trip in a juvenile facility trap your mind for a trip for the rest of your life in a prison cell like it did me. I’m currently doing life without parole in the State of Maryland, along with four life sentences in the federal judicial system. So Young Kings & Queens I’ve seen it all and I don’t wish this for none of my future leaders of the free-world. As you read through this magazine, read with an open mind that a few good men cares about you and took the out time to share with you important information and knowledge why you should sit back and count on your fingers all the people you know who have been successful from a life of crime. To this day I’m still on one hand.
Knowledge is the new rich and nothing is slick, cool, lit about being ignorant to what it takes to become successful in life crime free. It’s millions of brothers and sisters incarcerated today that wish they could be back in your shoes, so that they could take a better path that didn’t consist of decades in State or Federal Prison! Stay Woke Peace &
Blessings Your Big Brother Shawn Gardner
