1 Rule 600(E) 7-19-15 Thursday The purpose of warrantless pre-trial incarceration, extended beyond the boundaries of written law and common decency, is to disenfranchise the power from his or her support system. Testing the fortitude, integrity and [unclear] of social and [unclear] [unclear] between those in jail and those who would foster concern fro their welfare. After a period, as in the passing of a loved one, those concerned begin to divorce themselves emotionally from those incarcerated, to begin a healing process within their own system of emotion, and pre-check the onset of insanity. Those left to captivity often succumb to increased feelings of hopelessness, worthlessness, and loneliness: this is the psychology incarceration. CFCF has identified and targeted a specific group; persons with criminal records and exploited their desire to be free from indeterminate incarceration into a lucrative, money making enterprise. Lenth of stay before trial is extended by exhorbitant bail, “detainer” policies, and trial postponements; increasing citizens exposure to extortionate commissary, phone serve, and financial transaction practices. After witnessing the calculated, systematic injustice perpetrated upon those accused by denial of due process and circumvention of federal and state constitutional 2 trial time guidelines, prisoners are often only too happy to accept any plea “deal” that is offered by a smug and callous court-appointed attorney. Most figure this may be the only opportunity they are afforded to interact with an actual member of the court system responsible for holding them here. Once a deal is consumated, the conviction serves to give greater license for this citizen to be detained for even greater periods in the future, with an even smaller standard of probable cause, yet at a higher bail. This cycle is inescapable for many and profitable for but a few. Something has to give. Curtis Curran Curran [Fromhold?] Correctional facility Transcribed by Peter MacDonald, January 22, 2017
