Televison The Department of Rehabilitation and Corrections should consider a better television network for Ohio prisoners. After being locked up in a cell for 20 hours a day for several years basic television becomes a frustration. These institutions have no concern of the sanity of the inmates. Ohio Department of Rehabilitation charge $215 for a 13in Cleartoon t.v. With the money they collect for these small televisions they should give inmates the privilege to e enjoy basic television; such as ESPN, History, Discovery or Lifetime. Most prisons show basic television that consist of News , outdated sitcoms , game shows and drama series. A person serving a lot of time becomes bored real quick. I do believe such limited television is a source to keep the inmate behind time from the rest of the world. If the institutions had any concern about the inmate sanity the institution would offer basic cable for the inmates; however over the course of my incarceration I have not witness this kind of attention from the institution. If you lock a human being up for 20 hours a day for years his/her mind need something to keep it occupied. If the mind is not being feed positive images it would only return to what it knows best, and in our situation that is criminal thinking. It do not take a rocket scientist or a state doctor to inform us of how 20 hours in a cell could lead mind damage. DRC charge $215 for a 13 in Cleartoon . The t.v is small enough to wear as a medallion; yet it cost more than a 32 in sony. If the prisons offered inmates a larger variety of channels I'm sure prison would be more peaceful. Since the televisions are over priced DRC should throw basic cable into the prison network, including ESPN, Discovery, History and Lifetime. History and Discovery offer a sense of education while ESPN offer an update on sports and lifetime offer shows that relate to humble family situations and entertainment. It would be less prisoners losing their sanity if they had better t.v programs. These prisoners would not be lost in an advancing world if they had modern television programs. It is time for some one to stand up and get cable installed in max prisons.
