Texas Department of Criminal Justice mission statement The mission of the Texas Department of Criminal Justice is to provide public safety, promote positive change in offender behavior, reintegrate offenders into society and assist victims of crime. I want to express my feelings about the mission that Texas Department of Criminal Justice claim that it's promoting positive change in offender behavior. Now don't get me wrong, theres positive and negative sides to this. The positive is they (TDCJ) provide education, GED and some courses. They have trades a person can take so getting a job is likely when release. You do not have to remind me that it's up to a person to want and take that step to have a positive change in one's life. Yes, there are some success stories but guess what? Theres not that many here in Texas and heres why. Now I'm not going to write down and tell you some boo-hoo story. I'm telling you (the reader) the facts. From day one to the day you leave. You are talk and treated like a dog. As if you are the lowest piece of scum on earth. You are yell at all day long. You are sneer at, look down upon, antagonize with words, I cannot write down. Called worthless, picked on, nothing you do is right, nit-pick, and try to provoke you into losing your temper so they can use excessive use of force, or lock you down and justify what they (guards) done was the inmates fault. Now please tell me how am I and others are to have a positive attitude. Think about this. If you have a dog in a cage, and almost everyone walks by and jabs the dog with a stick. How is that dog going to act when you let it out? Positive? How about some care and concern? How about looking at what can be done so, the offender (inmate) does'nt return. I don't really think anyone cares. So, why should I waste my ink. My effort, I feel is a waste of time. Thank you.
