The Cost of Innocence "Last Call" By Alan Sorensen So you have Just returned from a visit from your doctor. after running many tests and repeating them, she has determined that you have a incurable disease, not a illness, but something rare and just as deadly, a wrongful conviction, that there is no cure for as long as the "Good Old Boys" run the house and senate judiciary committees, there will be no cure for it in the foreseeable future. You will die alone and there is nothing that can be done to stop this from happening. Absolutely Nothing! As I look at the disparity between all the new inmate programs and laws, "Carveouts" I see the "Good Old Boys" thinking is alive and well in our halls of justice. One needs only look at the numbers from the Bureau of Justice Statistics, to see how clear such wrongful convictions are and growing. Why is no one talking about this distinct bias. I have said it before, until the Colorado Senate and House recognize the innocent in their prisons, not just political talk, and do something real about it, rather than lump all such types of crimes together, and see each person as an individual, there will never be any real criminal reform, and no real justice. I no longer believe that I will ever make it out of here. And you know what? I dont even think I care any longer, thirty years and counting. Alan Sorensen
