I had a lock down [resolve?] this for me.
We teach felons to:
)-Be responsible by taking away all their responsibilities.
)-Be trustworthy by disbelieving most everything they say.
-Be non violent by injustice, abuse of authority, and putting them where hostility surrounds them.
-Be kind and loving by demeaning them & subjecting them to cruelty & hatred.
-Stop being a tough guy by putting them where tough guys are most respected.
-Stop exploiting others by exploiting inmates having medical needs, making phone calls to loved ones & their purchasing of commissary, books & music CD's usually at higher than retail prices.
-Be independent by making them reliant upon us & by incessantly telling them what they can & cannot do or threatening with write ups.
-Be vital contributing members of society by labeling & isolating them.
-Have a sense of self worth by breaking their spirit & destroying what's left of their self esteem.
-Move forward by constantly reminding them of their past.
-Be productive by depriving them of jobs & education opportunities.
-Make better choices by making every decision for them.
-Be rational in their thinking by often providing ridiculous answers illogical rules, policies & procedures.
-Be individuals by mass punishing & using a cookie cutter or, "one size fits all" approach, especially towards inmates in any kind of treatment.
-Be merciful by refusing to have compassion for them.
-To have integrity by being less than honest about our motives & responses to their legitimate questions.
-To get help for their problems by discounting or negating their feelings & punish them further from their confessions of "coming clean".
-To be respectful by being rude & insolent towards them all, even those who've shown civility towards us.
-To have a strong support group of good, productive & well-rounded citizens in the community by unnecessarily frustrating their visits, phone calls, mail, money, property, jobs, housing, etc. at every turn from anybody trying to be supportive.
-To have realistic expectations & to be rational in their thinking by enforcing illogical unreasonable rules, policies & procedures.
-To stop their criminal behavior by oppressing them & subjecting them to a state of being or condition where "The fox is guarding the hen house."
-To make proper use of the established system by ruling against them at every grievance & either taking away their privileges or moving them to a more restrictive living area to gain compliance.
-To trust in the legal system by only giving justice to those with lots of money &/or influence, & who can afford a powerful attorney.
-To maintain hope for a good future by telling the public they are monsters who can't be trusted & should not be hired, or allowed to advance to better positions. And that's if their ever let out in the first place. They should be monitored for the rest of their lives.
Note:These statements might not be politically correct, but never the less, they are factually true!
