What abuse is part of my sentence? 9/10/2018 There are signs all over this prison that read: sexual abuse is not part of your sentence. Phone numbers are encouraged to be called for any unwanted attention or harassment. This then begs the question; what abuse is a part of my sentence? Is environmental abuse part of my sentence? Most of the electrical outlets in my dorm do not work, so we are not able to use our personal fans. This Southern Georgia summer, we just laid upon our iron maidens with our sweat soaking into our sheets. There is no air conditioning here, except in the classrooms and offices. There are 74 of us in an open dorm. We have one toilet for your sit down business and one working shower. more times than not there is no hot water, which is tolerable in the summer, but quite shocking in the winter. There is no heat here but the 74 bodies to heat our sleeping area in the winter. Is medical abuse a part of my sentence? It took me a year and a half to see the optometrist for an exam and to get a pair of eyeglasses. it took two years to see the dentist and have a broken tooth pulled. It can take a couple of weeks to see a nurse after you submit a request. If it is determined that you need medication, it may take an additional week. Recently I was called into medical and the Nurse Practitioner asked me, "So you have a rash that needs attention?" I had put in a year ago to have it seen to. I purchased the medication I needed off the underground market. That was four hours sitting in medical to tell them it was no longer an issue. Is food abuse a part of my sentence? Our food portions are approximately one half of what we received two years ago. Rat turds and roaches we routinely pick out of our food. The fifty pound sacks of oats are labeled: "Animal Feed - Not for Human Consumption." A saving grace is the kitchen help. They bring food back to our dorm, which we buy, that is better quality and flavor than what we are normally served. Spoiled milk and food are common. Is the indifference of society to the corruption and partiality in the criminal justice system and the prison industrial complex a part of my sentence? Consider the words of Fyodor Dostoyevsky, "The degree of civilization in a society can be judged by entering its prisons." it is beyond refute that this is a thinly disguised slavery system, and it is the pet monster of the American people. It may be allowed by the 13th Amendment, but it is immoral and unethical, and is at cross purposes to the evolution of a society. As prisoners of war, i.e. The War on Crime declared by Congress, we are not even afforded the rights laid out in the Geneva Convention. There is a certain irony that terrorist housed in Cuba may receive better treatment than we do. I have resolved that the abuse of seeing my fellow man beaten, stabbed, murdered, shaken down and robbed, is a part of my sentence. I submit that we stop calling it the Department of Corrections, for there is little to none of that, and openly acknowledge what it is. The Departmental of Punishment and Abuse.
