Curtis Garner Pennsylvania Who is in charge here? 3-26-15 Thursday The 6th Amendment offers effective assistance of counsel to all citizens accused of a crime. Persons detained before trial should be of specific and particular interest to municipalities to insure citizens access to courts, equal protection, and due process of law as per 1st, 5th, 6th and 14th amendments to our Constitution. Because of latest overcrowding issues within the Philadelphia prison system, many accused are not regularly afforded these rights. Those in power are aware of this, yet have taken minimal steps to remedy this problem. In fact, city officials habitually look the other way or transfer blame to other parties or agencies. Thousands of persons per year face criminal charges without effective representation; turning the hallowed halls of the criminal Justice Center into nothing more than a huge conveyor belt. This is a sad testimony in the town that houses the Constitution [ center? ] , yet is still infamous for corruption in its city agencies. Who bears the responsibility for insuring all citizens are afforded the rights listed as inviolable in our Constitution? Speak up... Curtis Garner -Semper Fidelis-
