Pay to be Free

I got numbers behind my name
Because I’m inventory like at a store
I’m stored
Making money for the State
Trying to make a way
To make enough money that I may be able to purchase my freedom from the State
I pay
With time
I'm
Trying to cut my time
I’ve got too much time
Time I don’t want to be confined
I once was free dom me wanted to collect felonies
I fell on knees
Praying
For delivery
Instead I got discovery
Through inflection, reflection and in the company
Of authors
Many offered their expertise
I learned to find peace
I was inspired to write piece after piece
I’m using what they’ve taught me
So that I may succeed
And proceed to pay to be free
